Welcome to the Accident Blackspot Project site. This site aims to provide road users with up to date and accurate information on blackspot locations throughout the UK.
A accident blackspot is a location where there are consistant accidents. This may indicate a blind junction, tricky roundabout or hazardous road. Every year a study comprise of police and local authority accident data is compiled and released on the UK Data Archive which comprises of a lot of complicated figures and keying system. The aim of this project is to group up those accidents, rate their severity then provide this information online in a simple to understand way. You can also download this blackspot information to use in your SatNav device. Instructions on get and install this data can be found on the Download page.
Throughout the site there are a range of dynamically generated statistics providing you with some interesting facts while you are browsing. In addition to these you can also view all the blackspot data in a handy Google Maps interface. From this interface you can view various years, accident severities and even plan a journey.
